Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth clean. It is the best means of prevention of cavities, gingivitis (inflammation of the gum), periodontal (gum) disease and other dental disorders.
Good oral hygiene also helps to prevent bad breath. Twice daily cleaning at home has the greatest impact on reducing these diseases. This is achieved by accurate brushing (for 2 minutes each time) with either an electric or normal toothbrush.
However, for most people, this is clearly not sufficient and additional cleaning with either dental floss or piksters should be performed. (Ask us if you should be using floss or piksters.)
